Lisa Amy Jones is a Home Economist and keen cook with a genuine passion for good, honest food. She loves to create and cook wholesome, uncomplicated and convenient meals from simple, good quality ingredients using the microwave or conventional cooking methods.
Her love for food and cooking was born when she began a nightclass in cookery whilst still at school. Despite being the youngest in the class Lisa demonstrated real aptitude and natural talent. It was this experience that firmly set in Lisa's mind her desire to persue a career in food.
Armed with GCSE's and A-levels in a variety of subjects she commenced a BA Honours Degree in Home Economics at Liverpool John Moores University. A diverse and inspirational subject, the degree covered food science, nutrition, product and recipe development and more.
This education equipped Lisa well for the world of work, and her hard work was rewarded when she secured her first job as Home Economist for Sharp Manufacturing in 1994. During this career she has developed the cooking performance of microwave ovens and has written endless operation manuals and cookbooks.
In her professional capacity as Home Economist, Lisa has been invited to share her knowledge and experience at a number of forums and cookery demonstrations. She held a committee post on the Household Appliance section of the British Standards Institute and assisted in the revisions of UK microwave cooking procedures.
Having joined the Microwave Association in 1994 (the president of the association was Marguerite Patten), Lisa was elected as Chairman in 2000. Her achievements during her time as Chair were to strengthen the association profile, develop the website from a single page to microwave resource centre, encompass advanced and accelerated heating methods, and attract new members.
Originally from Barrow-in Furness, Lisa is married with a young son and now lives with her family in Wrexham, North Wales. Her husband and child share her love of food, and they enjoy spending time with great family and friends eating great food.
